Tim Meyer
Medical Director and full professor at Institute of Sports and Preventive Medicine (Saarland University, Germany) since 10.2008. Prof. Tim Meyer is a Chair of Medical Committee of the European Football Association (UEFA) and a Chair of Medical Committee of the German Football Association (DFB), he is also a member of Anti-Doping Committee of the German Football Federation (DFB) and a member of Medical Committee of the German National Olympic Committee (DOSB). The leading expert in UEFA task group for Return-to-Play Protocol. He serves as Head of the international PhD programme “Science and Health in Football”. In 2007 he became chair of the Institute of Sports Medicine, University Paderborn. His habilitation thesis at the University of Saarland was about applications of gas exchange measurements (2006) Meyer´s main areas of research are clinical exercise physiology, recovery and training prescription with a special focus on football. Under his supervision, several training studies were conducted in elite and recreational athletes (altogether over 100 publications in internationally referenced peer-reviewed journals). He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Science and Medicine in Football” (together with Franco Impellizzeri) as well as Assistant Editor in “Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport” and Associate Editor of “Sports Medicine Open”.
